One Piston and/or Con-Rod, Replace > < Replace one con-rod bearing (Y 17 DT, Y 17 DTL)

All Pistons with Con-Rod, Remove and Install

  Remove

1.   Remove cylinder head
2.   Detach oil baffle plate (2)
•   Unscrew 6x bolt (1)
Object Number: 2408385  Size: DEFAULT


3.   Set 1st cylinder to TDC
4.   Remove 2 con-rod bearing caps (1)
Note:   Observe cylinder order.
•   Cylinder 2, cylinder 3
•   Mark con-rods with con-rod bearing caps
Important:   Caution: The mating surfaces of the cod-rods and con-rod bearing caps form an individual fit and as a result must never be interchanged or damaged. Do not lay on mating surfaces
•   Unscrew 4 bolts
•   Push 2x piston with con-rod upwards

5.   Lower vehicle
6.   Remove 2 pistons
7.   Raise vehicle
8.   Turn crankshaft
•   In direction of engine rotation
•   180°
9.   Remove 2 con-rod bearing covers
Note:   Observe cylinder sequence
•   Cylinder 1, cylinder 4
•   Mark con-rods with con-rod bearing caps
Important:   Caution: The mating surfaces of the cod-rods and con-rod bearing caps form an individual fit and as a result must never be interchanged or damaged. Do not lay on mating surfaces
•   Unscrew 4 bolts
•   Push 2x piston with con-rod upwards
10.   Lower vehicle
11.   Remove 2 pistons
12.   Remove 8 con-rod bearing shells
Note:   Mark con-rod bearing shells. Observe sequence.
13.   Inspect components
•   Crank Drive
14.   Insert 8 con-rod bearing shells
•   In con-rod, con-rod bearing cap
Note:   Note markings.
Coat with engine oil
15.   Adjust 3x piston ring
•   Arrange joints offset by 120°

16.   Install piston
Important:   Arrow on piston head points towards the engine timing side.
•   Coat piston and cylinder bores with engine oil
Cylinder 1, cylinder 4
•   Compress piston rings with piston ring tensioner
•   Insert piston
17.   Raise vehicle
18.   Attach 2 con-rod bearing caps
•   Coat 2x con-rod bearing journal with engine oil
Important:   Note order and installation position
•  
•   Tighten 4 new bolts 20 Nm + 40°
19.   Turn crankshaft
•   In direction of engine rotation
•   180°
20.   Lower vehicle
21.   Install piston
Important:   Arrow on piston head points towards the engine timing side.
•   Coat piston and cylinder bores with engine oil
Cylinder 2, cylinder 3
•   Compress piston rings with piston ring tensioner
•   Insert piston
22.   Raise vehicle
23.   Attach 2 con-rod bearing caps
•   Coat 2x con-rod bearing journal with engine oil
Important:   Note order and installation position.
•   Replace 4x bolt
•   Tighten 4 new bolts 20 Nm + 40°
24.   Attach oil baffle plate
•   Tighten 6 bolts 9 Nm
25.   Install cylinder head
