Check con-rod bearing clearance (use micrometer
and internal measuring device)
Note: Con-rod and
crankshaft have been removed.
Measure
Important: Measure this without
the bearing shells.
1. |
Mount the con-rod bearing cap on the con-rod without the
bearing shell
Note: It is not
necessary to replace the bolts for the measuring procedure.
• |
Tighten 2x bolts 20 Nm + 40°
2. |
The mean con-rod base bearing diameter is determined by
measuring at points I, II and III and computing the result.
3. |
Formula for calculating the mean con-rod bearing diameter:
Example:
I
45.734 mm
II
45.738 mm

45.739 mm
4. |
The mean con-rod base diameter is 45.739 mm.

5. |
The con-rod bearing journal diameter is determined by measuring
at points I and II with a micrometer and computing the mean.

42.595 mm
7. |
The mean con-rod bearing journal diameter is 42.595 mm.
8. |
The con-rod bearing clearance is calculated using the
difference between the con-rod base hole and con-rod bearing
journal diameters and the thickness of the con-rod bearing
shells
Example:
Mean diameter of con-rod base
45.739 mm
