Remove

Check coolant level.

Correct coolant level if necessary

Unscrew cover of coolant compensation tank

Release pressure carefully

Attach tester to coolant compensation tank
Note: Observe
manufacturer-specific regulations

Check engine for leaks
Note: The transparent
cylinder of the tester contains a blue reactive fluid that turns
yellow if air is drawn in that contains even minute traces of
carbon monoxide. When fresh air is drawn in the test fluid is
regenerated, i.e. it turns blue again.

Operating the rubber boot sucks the air out of the coolant
compensation tank.
Note: No coolant must
be drawn in

If the blue liquid in the upper chamber of the test unit turns
yellow, the cylinder head gasket and therefore the cylinder head is
not tight.

Checking the tester
• |
The liquid can be tested by sucking in exhaust fumes from the
exhaust pipe.

The test liquid must turn yellow.

Install

Detach tester

Release pressure carefully

9. |
Seal off coolant compensation tank
