J451700 Engine Oil Pressure, Check (Z 18 XE, with
Air Conditioning, LHD)
Note: Engine warmed
up (oil temperature at least 80°C).
Remove

Disconnect battery
Note: In vehicles from
model year 04 onwards with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses
its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected and must
be recalibrated.

Remove right-hand air duct
• |
Unscrew 3 bolts (arrows)
|
|
5. |
Remove ribbed V-belt cover
|
|
|
6. |
Remove ribbed V-belt
Note: Mark running
direction.
• |
Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner in direction of arrow with
KM-913-A (2)
|
• |
Slacken ribbed V-belt tensioner with KM-913-A
|
|
|
|
7. |
Disconnect oil pressure switch wiring harness plug (1)
|
8. |
Release alternator support
• |
Swing alternator support backwards
|
|
|
|
9. |
Remove oil pressure switch
• |
Place collecting basin underneath.
|
|
11. |
Fasten alternator support
|
12. |
Install ribbed V-belt
Note: Observe running
direction and installation position
• |
Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner in direction of arrow with
KM-913-A
|
• |
Slacken ribbed V-belt tensioner with KM-913-A
|
|
|
|
15. |
Check engine oil pressure
• |
Engine oil pressure approx. 140 kPa (1.4 bar) at idling
speed
|
|

Release alternator support
• |
Swing alternator support backwards
|
|
Install
21. |
Install oil pressure switch
• |
Tighten oil pressure switch 30
Nm
|
|
22. |
Fasten alternator support
|
23. |
Connect wiring harness plug to oil pressure switch.
|
24. |
Install ribbed V-belt
|
25. |
Install ribbed V-belt cover
|
26. |
Install right-hand air duct
|
28. |
Check engine oil level and correct if necessary
|
30. |
Calibrate steering angle sensor
• |
Rotate the steering wheel one time from its right-hand to its
left-hand stop
|

Program volatile memories
