J979700 engine oil change (Z 14 XE, Z 16 YNG with
air conditioning, LHD)
Note: The customer
should be informed of the choice between ECOService and
ECOService-Flex before the oil change.
1. Open bonnet
2. Raise vehicle
3. Drain engine oil
- Place collecting basin underneath.
- Remove drain bolt
4. Remove oil filter cartridge
- Place collecting basin underneath.
- Using KM-726-A
5. Clean sealing surfaces

6. Install oil filter cartridge
- Coat sealing ring with engine oil
- Tighten using KM-726-A (15 Nm / 11 lbf. ft.)
7. Install engine oil drain bolt
- Replace seal ring
- Tighten bolt (10 Nm / 7.5 lbf. ft.)
8. Lower vehicle
9. Top up engine oil
- Observe specified engine oil quantity
- Start engine and allow to run until oil pressure telltale
extinguishes.
- Check engine oil level, if necessary correct.
10. Reset service interval
Resetting the flexible service interval
(ECOService-Flex)

The display for the flexible service interval (time and mileage)
can be reset via the instrument assembly. The engine control unit
communicates with the instrument assembly.

Manual reset
- Ignition OFF. The display in the speedometer must show the trip
odometer reading.
- Press and hold the reset button (trip odometer button).
- Ignition ON, wait until the service interval display jumps
around, then hold the reset button depressed for at least 3
seconds.
- After a few seconds, the display in the speedometer shows the
symbol with the maximum mileage (34,000 km for petrol engines or
50,000 for diesel engines).

The time counter in the instrument assembly is set to 24 months.
The engine control unit receives a signal via the CAN bus and the
"oil condition" is set to 100%. The engine control unit and the
instrument assembly are thereby reset.

Inform the customer that a service display accidentally reset by
the customer cannot be updated by the Opel dealer, especially if
the Service Booklet is not available. Depending on the distance
travelled since the last engine oil change/Main Service, a new oil
change may be necessary in order to prevent damage to the
engine.

Resetting service interval using TECH 2
(ECOService reprogramming)
|
After an engine oil change, the remaining mileage display on
vehicles with "ECOService" must be reset using TECH 2.
