10. Reset service interval

Resetting the flexible service interval (ECOService-Flex)

The display for the flexible service interval (time and mileage) can be reset via the instrument assembly. The engine control unit communicates with the instrument assembly.

Manual reset

  • Ignition OFF. The display in the speedometer must show the trip odometer reading.
  • Press and hold the reset button (trip odometer button).
  • Ignition ON, wait until the service interval display jumps around, then hold the reset button depressed for at least 3 seconds.
  • After a few seconds, the display in the speedometer shows the symbol with the maximum mileage (34,000 km for petrol engines or 50,000 for diesel engines).

The time counter in the instrument assembly is set to 24 months. The engine control unit receives a signal via the CAN bus and the "oil condition" is set to 100%. The engine control unit and the instrument assembly are thereby reset.

Inform the customer that a service display accidentally reset by the customer cannot be updated by the Opel dealer, especially if the Service Booklet is not available. Depending on the distance travelled since the last engine oil change/Main Service, a new oil change may be necessary in order to prevent damage to the engine.

Resetting service interval using TECH 2 (ECOService reprogramming)

After an engine oil change, the remaining mileage display on vehicles with "ECOService" must be reset using TECH 2.
