J606800 Fan Motor, Remove and Install (Z 18 XE, with Air Conditioning, LHD)

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Disconnect battery
Note:   In vehicles from model year 04 onwards with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected and must be recalibrated.
•   Detach ground cable
3.   Raise vehicle
4.   Release lower front panelling
•   Remove 3x clips
5.   Disconnect pressure switch wiring harness plug (1)
6.   Lower vehicle

7.   Release lower right radiator bracket
•   Loosen 2x bolts (1)

8.   Remove intake pipe
•   Remove bolt (arrow)
Object Number: 2411292 Size: DEFAULT


9.   Detach AC wiring harness
•   Disconnect wiring harness connector.
– Compressor (1), fan motor (2)
•   Remove 8x cable ties
•   Unclip from hydraulic modulator holder
– 1 brackets
•   Set wiring harness to one side

10.   Remove fan housing
•   Unscrew 2 bolts (1)

11.   Remove fan motor
•   Unclip fan motor wiring harness
•   Unscrew 3x nuts (arrows)
Object Number: 2404428 Size: DEFAULT


  Install

12.   Install fan motor
•   Tighten 3 nuts
•   Clip in fan motor wiring harness
13.   Install fan housing
•   Transfer 8x cable ties
•   Screw in 2x bolt
14.   Attach AC wiring harness
•   Route wiring harness
•   Connect 2 wiring harness plugs
•   Fasten cable tie
15.   Install intake pipe
•   Tighten bolt
16.   Fasten lower right radiator bracket
•   Tighten 2 bolts 15 Nm
17.   Raise vehicle
18.   Connect pressure switch wiring harness plug
19.   Fasten lower front panelling
•   Install 3x clips
20.   Lower vehicle
21.   Connect battery
22.   Calibrate steering angle sensor
•   Switch on ignition
•   Rotate the steering wheel one time from its right-hand to its left-hand stop
23.   Program volatile memories
24.   Close bonnet
