J608110 Thermostat with Coolant Connection, Remove and Install (Z 18 XE, with Air Conditioning, LHD)

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Raise vehicle
3.   Drain coolant
•   Place collecting basin underneath.
•   Open drain bolt (arrow)
4.   Lower vehicle
5.   Remove engine cover.
•   Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
•   Unscrew 2 bolts
•   Screw on oil filler pipe cap

6.   Remove intake pipe
•   Remove bolt (arrow)
•   Pull intake pipe out of bracket

7.   Detach upper radiator hose (1) from thermostat housing
8.   Disconnect coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug (3)
9.   Remove thermostat housing (4)
•   Unscrew 2 bolts
•   Detach preheater hose for throttle valve module (2) from thermostat housing
10.   Clean sealing surfaces
•   Thermostat housing, cylinder head

  Install

11.   Install thermostat housing
•   Attach preheater hose for throttle valve module
•   Replace gasket
•   Tighten 2 bolts 20 Nm
12.   Connect coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug
13.   Attach upper radiator hose
14.   Attach intake pipe
•   Tighten bolt
15.   Install engine cover.
•   Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
•   Insert retaining lugs
•   Tighten bolts 8 Nm
•   Screw on oil filler pipe cap
16.   Raise vehicle
17.   Close coolant drain bolt
18.   Lower vehicle
19.   Top up coolant
20.   Close bonnet
