J705100 Alternator, remove and install or replace
(Z 14 XE, Z 16 YNG with AC, RHD)
1. Open bonnet
Important: On
vehicles as of model year 04 with ESP - the steering angle sensor
loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected.
It must be recalibrated.
2. Disconnect battery
3. Raise vehicle
4. Remove ribbed V-belt cover
- Remove 3 bolts (1)
- Remove clip (arrow).

5. Remove ribbed V-belt
- Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner in direction of arrow
- With KM-913-A (2) (SW 15)
- Insert KM-6130 (1)
- Note: Mark running direction
|

6. Detach intake manifold support
- Unscrew upper bolt
- Loosen lower bolt
7. Loosen alternator
|
|
8. Disconnect oil pressure switch
wiring harness plug (1)
9. Lower vehicle
|
|
10. Remove engine cover.
- Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
- Remove 2 bolts
- Screw on oil filler pipe cap
11. Remove air cleaner housing (1)
- Disconnect wiring harness plug
- Intake air temperature sensor (4), tank vent valve (2)
- Unclip tank vent valve
- Remove air intake pipe
- From throttle valve module
- Detach engine vent hose (5)
- Remove air intake hose
- Remove bolt (3)

12. Reduce fuel pressure
- With KM-J-34730-91
- Caution: Observe safety measures and national legislation
- Unscrew test connection protective cap
- To fuel manifold pipe
13. Remove fuel line
- From fuel distributor pipe
- Close off fuel distributor pipe

14. Remove wiring harness plug for
engine management
- Disconnect wiring harness plug
- Coolant temperature sensor (arrow), camshaft sensor (1),
throttle body module (2), knock sensor (4), intake pipe pressure
sensor (3), oxygen sensor, catalytic converter control (5), exhaust
recirculation valve (6)
- Remove cable ties.

15. Detach throttle body module
preheater hose (1)
- Place collecting basin underneath.
- 2 off
16. Detach engine vent hose (2)
|
|
17. Remove fuel distributor pipe
- Remove 2 bolts (arrows)
- Remove wiring harness for engine management together with
injectors
|
|
18. Detach wiring harness bracket (2)
19. Remove alternator shackle (1)
- Remove 3 bolts
- Swing alternator backwards.
|
|
20. Detach engine wiring harness bracket
- Remove 2 bolts
- Unclip wiring harness (1)
21. Unclip brake servo vacuum line (3)
22. Detach tank vent hose (2)
- From connection on throttle body module
23. Remove intake manifold
|
|
24. Detach alternator wiring harness
25. Remove alternator
- Unscrew bolt (2), nut
- Remove alternator upwards.
26. Install alternator
27. Attach alternator wiring harness
28. Clean sealing surfaces
- Intake manifold flange, intake manifold
29. Install intake manifold
- Replace gasket
- Tighten bolts (8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.)

30. Attach fuel evaporation hose
- To connection on throttle body module
31. Attach brake servo vacuum line
32. Attach engine wiring harness bracket
- Attach wiring harness
- Tighten bolts
33. Install alternator shackle
- Tighten bolts (20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.)
34. Install wiring harness bracket
- Tighten bolt (20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.)
35. Install fuel distributor pipe
- Tighten bolts (8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.)
36. Attach engine vent hose
37. Install preheater hoses for throttle body module
38. Connect wiring harness plug for engine management
39. Attach fuel line
- Tighten nut (15 Nm / 11 lbf. ft.)
40. Install air cleaner housing
- Tighten bolt
- Install air intake hose
- Attach engine vent hose
- Install air intake pipe
- Clip in tank vent valve
- Connect wiring harness plug.
41. Install engine cover.
- Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
- Tighten bolts (8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.)
- Screw on oil filler pipe cap
42. Raise vehicle
43. Connect wiring harness plug to oil pressure switch
44. Fasten alternator
- Tighten bolt (35 Nm / 26 lbf. ft.)
45. Attach intake manifold support
- Tighten bolt (M8, 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.)
- Tighten lower bolt (M10, 35 Nm / 26 lbf. ft.)
46. Install ribbed V-belt
- Note: Note running direction and installation position
- Release ribbed V-belt tensioner
- Remove KM-6130
47. Install ribbed V-belt cover
- Screw in bolts
- Install clip
48. Lower vehicle
49. Connect battery
50. Calibrate steering angle sensor
Note: Rotate the
steering wheel one time from its right-hand to its left-hand
stop.
51. Program volatile memories
52. Close bonnet
