J714100 Regulator For Alternator, Replace (Z 18 XE, with Air Conditioning, LHD)

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Disconnect battery
Note:   In vehicles from model year 04 onwards with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected and must be recalibrated.
•   Detach ground cable
3.   Unclip drain connection from bulkhead
4.   Loosen right front wheel.
5.   Raise vehicle
6.   Remove right front wheel.
•   Unscrew 4 bolts
7.   Raise vehicle
8.   Remove right-hand air duct
•   Unscrew 3 bolts (arrows)
9.   Remove ribbed V-belt cover
•   Unscrew 3 bolts (1)
•   Remove clip (2)

10.   Remove ribbed V-belt
Note:   Mark running direction.
•   Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner in direction of arrow with KM-913-A (2)
•   Use KM-6130 (1)
11.   Lower vehicle
12.   Remove engine cover.
•   Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
•   Unscrew 2 bolts
•   Screw on oil filler pipe cap

13.   Remove air cleaner housing (1)
•   Disconnect 2 wiring harness plugs
– Hot film mass air flow meter (4), tank vent valve (2)
•   Unclip tank vent valve
•   Detach intake hose
•   Detach engine vent hose (3)
•   Remove bolt (arrow)

14.   Detach wiring harness bracket from alternator shackle
•   Detach fuel evaporation hose
15.   Remove alternator shackle
•   Remove ground cable (1)
– Unscrew nut (2)
•   Unscrew studs (3)
•   Unscrew 2x bolts (4, 5)
16.   Raise vehicle

17.   Remove ribbed V-belt tensioner
•   Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner.
•   Remove KM-6130 (2)
•   Release ribbed V-belt tensioner
•   Remove bolt (1)

18.   Disconnect 2 wiring harness plugs
•   Catalytic converter control oxygen sensor (4), oil pressure switch (3)
19.   Release alternator
•   Release alternator support
– Unscrew 2 upper bolts (1)
•   Unscrew nut (2)
20.   Remove alternator support -
•   Remove bolt
•   Remove alternator bolt
21.   Remove retaining clip
•   Brake line, fuel line

22.   Remove alternator
•   Detach alternator wiring harness
– Unscrew 2 nuts (1)
•   Remove alternator through wheel well

23.   Detach cover
•   Remove bolt (2)
•   Unscrew 2 nuts (1)
•   Detach cover

24.   Detach regulator
•   Remove 3 bolts (arrows)
Object Number: 2411324 Size: DEFAULT


  Install

25.   Attach regulator
•   Tighten 2x nuts
26.   Attach cover
•   Tighten 2 nuts
•   Tighten 2 bolts
27.   Install alternator
•   Fit alternator
•   Attach alternator wiring harness
– Screw in 2 nuts
28.   Install alternator support -
•   Insert alternator bolt
– Screw in nut
•   Bolt in bolt
29.   Install retaining clip
30.   Lower vehicle
31.   Install alternator shackle
•   Connect ground cable.
– Tighten nuts
•   Tighten 2 bolts, stud bolts 20 Nm
32.   Install wiring harness bracket
•   Tighten bolt 20 Nm
33.   Raise vehicle
34.   Fasten alternator
•   Tighten nut 35 Nm
•   Fasten alternator support
– Tighten 2x bolts 35 Nm
35.   Connect 2 wiring harness plugs
36.   Install ribbed V-belt tensioner
•   Tighten bolt (35 Nm / 26 lbf. ft.)
•   Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner.
– using KM-913-A
•   Use KM-6130
37.   Install ribbed V-belt
Note:   Observe running direction and installation position
•   Slacken ribbed V-belt tensioner with KM-913-A
•   Remove KM-6130
38.   Clip in drain connection
39.   Install ribbed V-belt cover
•   Screw in 3 bolts
•   Install clip
40.   Install right-hand air duct
•   Screw in 3 bolts
41.   Lower vehicle
42.   Mount right front wheel.
•   Screw in 4 bolts
43.   Lower vehicle
44.   Fasten right front wheel.
•   Tighten 4 bolts 110 Nm
45.   Install air cleaner housing
•   Tighten bolt
•   Install suction hose
•   Attach engine vent hose
•   Clip in tank vent valve
•   Connect 2 wiring harness plugs
46.   Install engine cover.
•   Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
•   Insert retaining lugs
•   Tighten bolts (8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.)
•   Screw on oil filler pipe cap
47.   Connect battery
48.   Calibrate steering angle sensor
•   Switch on ignition
•   Rotate the steering wheel one time from its right-hand to its left-hand stop
49.   Program volatile memories
50.   Close bonnet
