J700100 Starter, Remove and Install (Y 17 DTL, without AC, LHD) > < J700100 remove and install starter (Z 14 XE, Z 16 YNG with air conditioning, RHD)

J700100 Starter, Remove and Install (Z 18 XE, with Air Conditioning, LHD)

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Disconnect battery
Note:   In vehicles from model year 04 onwards with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected and must be recalibrated.
•   Detach ground cable
3.   Raise vehicle
4.   Disconnect wiring harness plug, catalytic converter control oxygen sensor (1)
5.   Remove intake manifold support
•   Unscrew 2 bolts (arrows)

6.   Remove wiring harness for starter
•   Unscrew 2 nuts (1)
7.   Remove starter
•   Unscrew 2 bolts
Object Number: 2411239 Size: DEFAULT


  Install

8.   Install starter
•   Tighten 2 bolts 25 Nm
9.   Attach wiring harness for starter
•   Tighten 2 nuts
10.   Install intake manifold support
•   To intake manifold
– Tighten bolt 20 Nm
•   At cylinder block
– Tighten bolt 35 Nm
Note:   With ground cable
11.   Connect oxygen sensor (catalytic converter control) cable harness plug.
12.   Lower vehicle
13.   Connect battery
14.   Calibrate steering angle sensor
•   Switch on ignition
•   Rotate the steering wheel one time from its right-hand to its left-hand stop
15.   Program volatile memories
16.   Close bonnet
