Coolant Temperature Sensor > < Remove and install engine control unit (Z 10 XE, Z 10 XEP, without air conditioning, LHD)

Remove and install engine control unit (Z 12 XE, Z 12 XEP, Z 14 XEP, with air conditioning, LHD)

Note:   If the engine control unit is replaced or exchanged, the safety code must be reset using TECH 2 before removing LUREF_1.gif

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Disconnect battery
Note:   In vehicles as of model year 04 onwards with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected, and must be recalibrated
•   Detach ground cable
3.   Disconnect 2 engine control unit wiring harness plugs
•   Release in direction of arrow (arrows)
4.   Unscrew ground cable
•   Remove bolt (1)
5.   Remove engine control unit
•   Unscrew 4 bolts

  Install

6.   Install engine control unit
•   Tighten 4 bolts
7.   Attach ground cable
•   Tighten bolt
8.   Connect 2 engine control unit wiring harness plugs
9.   Connect battery
10.   Program volatile memory
11.   Close bonnet
