Replace injectors (1 valve or all valves) (Z 10 XE, Z 10 XEP, without air conditioning, LHD)

Note:   In vehicles as of model year 04 with ESP - every time the battery is disconnected, the steering angle sensor loses its basic setting and must be recalibrated

  Remove

3.   Remove suction pipe (4) •   Unscrew 2 nuts •   Detach engine venting hose from cylinder head cover (5) •   On Z 10 XEP: Remove air intake hose – Release clamp •   Disconnect 2 wiring harness plugs – Hot film mass air flow sensor (2), tank vent valve (1) •   Remove hot film mass air flow meter (3) – Release 2x clamp

4.   Detach engine venting hose (1) from cylinder head cover 5.   Disconnect 4x engine management wiring harness plugs •   Throttle valve module (2), injection valves (3) •   On Z 10 XEP: Remove fuel rail cover – Unscrew 2 bolts

Important:   Observe safety precautions and national regulations 6.   Release fuel pressure with KM-J-34730-91 •   Unscrew test connection protective cap (2) from fuel rail (1) Note:   Test connection for Z 10 XEP at upper fuel rail

7.   Detach fuel line (2) with KM-796-A •   Unclip fuel line •   Seal using KM-807 8.   Detach throttle valve module Note:   Cooling system remains closed •   Unscrew 4x bolt (1) 9.   Remove fuel distributor pipe (3) •   Unscrew 2 bolts

10.   Remove 3x injectors •   Detach 3x retaining clamps (2) •   Replace 6x injector seal rings (1)

  Install

12.   Attach injectors •   Insert injectors •   Attach retaining clips Note:   Note installation position. Groove in retaining clamp must engage with injector lug (arrow) 13.   Install fuel distributor pipe •   Tighten 2 bolts 6 Nm 14.   Install throttle valve module •   Replace gasket •   Tighten 4x bolts 7 Nm 15.   Attach fuel line •   Remove KM-807 •   Attach fuel line Note:   Connection must audibly engage •   Attach fuel line
