Coolant Temperature Sensor > < Engine Control Unit, Remove and Install or Replace

Preheater System Control Unit, Replace

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
Important:   On vehicles with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected. It must be recalibrated.
2.   Disconnect battery
3.   Loosen coolant compensation tank
•   Unclip coolant compensation tank
4.   Disconnect fuel filter housing wiring harness plug
5.   Remove engine control unit
•   Disconnect 2 engine control unit wiring harness plugs (1)
Release wiring harness plug
•   Unscrew 2x nuts (arrows)
•   Unclip wiring harness

6.   Detach fuse box in engine compartment
•   Remove engine compartment fuse box cover
•   Unclip pre-heater system control unit wiring harness
7.   Remove pre-heating system control unit (1)
•   Detach engine compartment fuse box from inner wheel well
Note:   Push engine compartment fuse box carefully to one side.
•   Unclip pre-heating system control unit
Release wiring harness plug (2) in direction of arrow

  Install

8.   Install pre-heating system control unit
•   Connect wiring harness plug.
•   Clip in pre-heating system control unit
9.   Attach fuse box in engine compartment
•   Clip in pre-heating system control unit wiring harness
•   Install engine compartment fuse box cover
10.   Fit engine control unit
•   Attach wiring harness
•   Tighten 2 nuts 15 Nm
•   Connect 2x engine control unit wiring harness plugs
Lock wiring harness plug
11.   Connect fuel filter housing wiring harness plug
12.   Fasten coolant compensation tank
•   Clip in coolant compensation tank
13.   Connect battery
14.   Program volatile memory
15.   Close bonnet
