Battery / Starter, Petrol (Current Measurement)

 

Objective:

Evaluation of the battery charge and the current supply to the battery as well as the operation of the starter.

Measurement:

Plot of the starter current during the start procedure.

Preparation:

Use multimeter function to adjust current probe to zero. Engine oil temperature greater than 20°C . Turn off engine, turn off the ignition, turn off all electrical loads.

Connections:

COM/TRIGGER

INPUT B

Clamp the current probe around all of the positive leads on the battery, pointing the plus sign on the current probe towards the positive pole or clamp the current probe around all of the negative leads on the battery, pointing the negative sign on the current probe towards the negative pole. Select the 1 mV/A measurement range.

 

 


Procedure Tech 31:

1. Download Reference curve.
2. Start engine.

1. Download Setup file (the Tech 32 uses only Setup files, no reference curves).
2. Start engine.
