Subject: Engine Z17DTH - Booming noise at around 1500 rpm
Models: Engines: Option:
Astra-H 2004,5...2005,Combo 2004...2005,Corsa-C 2004...2005,Meriva 2004...2005 Z17DTH,Z17DTH,Z17DTH,Z17DTH
Complaint: Booming noise at around 1500 rpm from the engine.
Cause: The noise is caused by frequency of Poly-V-belt itself and the complete Poly-V-drive.
Production: Improved Poly-V-belts with changed material have been introduced in production as of the following engine number: 1278491 (March 2005). Modified tensioners are scheduled to be introduced in August 2005.

Remedy:

In case of a customer complaint install improved Poly-V-belt which will solve most complaints.

Note: For Astra-H please carry out TSB 1731 (subframe damper) first.

Only in a very few number of cases it is necessary to replace the tensioner in addition:
Corsa-C/Meriva/Combo/Astra-H: Tensioner: 98005564 / 62 04 663
