Synchromesh Body Assembly, Remove and Install (F 17) > < Transmission Housing, Replace (F13/ F13 MTA)

Gears, Remove and Install (F 17)

Note:   Transmission remains installed.

  Remove

Object Number: 2414078  Size: DEFAULT

1.   Remove shift mechanism cover (1) LUREF_1.gif
2.   Remove reversing lamps switch (2).
3.   Remove end shield cover (3) gasket LUREF_1.gif
4.   Remove end shield (4) from transmission LUREF_1.gif

Object Number: 2414098  Size: DEFAULT

5.   Remove main shaft
6.   Dismantle main shaft
7.   Check affected gears and replace if necessary:
1. 4th speed gear
2. 3rd speed gear
3. 1st speed gear
4. 2nd speed gear


  Install

Object Number: 2414066  Size: DEFAULT

Important:   If a synchromesh body assembly has been completely disassembled then the following method of procedure shall be observed for assembly.
8.   Insert synchro body (3) in shift sleeve (2)
•   Insert sliding blocks (1) and (5) with the open end towards the synchro body.
9.   Insert synchroniser spring (4)
Note:   Ensure that the free end is raised from the synchro body (arrow) in the correct installation position. If this is not the case, turn synchro ring by 180° and re-install. Offset end of synchro spring engages in a sliding block.

10.   Install 5th gear gearwheel (driving) or 5th gear gearwheel (driven)
11.   Assemble main shaft
12.   Install main shaft

13.   Install end shield (1) in transmission LUREF_1.gif
14.   Install end shield cover (2)
15.   Install reversing lamp switch (4) with new seal ring
•   Tighten switch 20 Nm
16.   Install gearshift cover (3)
17.   Check transmission fluid level LUREF_1.gif
