Field Remedy: 1723

Subject: Steering - Knocking Noise
Models: Engines: Option:
Corsa-C 2001...2004 All
Complaint: Knocking noise in the area of steering.
Cause: Tightening torque of upper screw of steering intermediate shaft too low.
Production: Tightening torque increased as of: W0L0XCF2543034009 (Azambuja, 02/27/04) W0L0XCF0844253070 (Zaragoza, 02/18/04) W0L0XCF0846110767 (Eisenach, 04/02/04)

Remedy:

In case of customer complaint replace the upper screw of steering
intermediate shaft.


 1. Remove upper screw for steering intermediate shaft (Picture I, 1).


Object Number: 7362273  Size: DEFAULT

 2. Re-cut thread in steering intermediate shaft
 3. Install upper screw for steering intermediate shaft.


Note:

     Use new screw.
     Use locking compound.
     Tightening torque 24 Nm + 60°.

3 years and a mileage lower than 100.000 Km.
The regular warranty procedure should be used for claiming Set-up-time.
