New special tool numbering system In conjunction with GM, a new global numbering system for special tools has been adopted. A common special tools numbering system across all brands will enable multi-brand dealers to reduce the number of special tools required. It will also make it easier to locate and store the tools. With the introduction of the F40 transmission and the new Z13 DT diesel engine, all newly developed special tools are switched to the new numbering system. The tools can be used on Opel/Vauxhall, Saab, Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles which have the same assemblies and modules. Already existing and available Opel/Vauxhall special tools with KM numbers will remain. Any additions or new versions of these existing tools will continue to be numbered in line with the existing KM numbering principle. To get a better overview of the special tools, these are sub-divided into six different groups.
The tools with global special tool numbers can be sorted in two different ways.
The numbers are only issued once, ie, there will not be a number GE-46000 and CH-46000, only a GE-46000 and a CH-46001.The new global special tool numbers will probably start with XX-46000. |
