Tailgate spacer, remove+install

Partially loosen the top of the tailgate rubber
weatherstrip

Protect the top edge of the tailgate against paint damage with
edging strip or adhesive tape
|
4. |
Remove the lock rings from the tailgate hinge bolts
|
|
5. |
Remove the tailgate hinge bolts
Note: Two people are
necessary!

Unlatch two retaining clamps from the gas lifter spring
|
• |
Unclip and set aside two gas-filled struts
Note: Completely remove
the gas-filled struts for the Signum model!
|
• |
Remove two tailgate hinge bolts
|
|
|
|
6. |
Install the tailgate spacer
Note: Three people may
be necessary!
• |
Insert BO-48668-1 and BO-48668-2 into the tailgate hinge
|
• |
Install two spacers with tailgate hinge bolts on the
tailgate
|
|
|
7. |
Close the tailgate
• |
Cushion the tailgate lock with a suitable object (e.g., foam
edging strip) (arrow)
|
|
|
|
Remove
8. |
Open tailgate
• |
Remove the object used to cushion the tailgate lock
|
|
9. |
Remove the tailgate spacer
Note: Three people may
be necessary!
• |
Remove the tailgate hinge bolts from the spacer
|
• |
Remove the BO-48668-1 and BO-48668-2 from the tailgate hinge
|
|
10. |
Install the tailgate hinge bolts
Note: Two people are
necessary!
• |
Install two tailgate hinge bolts
|
• |
Attach two gas-filled struts, and latch the safety clamps
|
|
11. |
Attach the lock rings to the tailgate hinge bolts
|
12. |
Remove the edging strip from the top of the tailgate
|
13. |
Attach the rubber weatherstrip to the top of the tailgate
|
15. |
Check the size of the gap
|
