Camshaft Sprockets, Remove and Install
Remove
2. |
Remove air cleaner housing
|
3. |
Remove cylinder head cover
|
4. |
Move crankshaft in direction of engine rotation to "Cylinder 1
TDC of combustion stroke"
• |
The bore (2) on the crankshaft belt pulley is central to the
cast projection (1) on the timing case
|
|
|
|
5. |
Remove closure bolt of chain tensioner (1) from timing case
|
|
|
6. |
Lock chain tensioner with KM-955-1
(2)
• |
Apply tension to intake camshaft in the direction of engine
rotation via hexagon
|
• |
Fit locking tool KM-955-1 (2) in
chain tensioner retaining bore (1)
|
|
|
|
7. |
Detach sliding rail (2) from cylinder head
|
|
|
8. |
Remove phase sensor discs (1)
• |
Unscrew 2x bolts (2)
– |
Counterhold with open-ended wrench against the hexagon of the
camshafts
|
|
• |
Remove both phase sensor discs
|
|
|
|
9. |
Remove both camshaft sprockets (2)
• |
Remove timing chain (1) from camshaft sprockets
|
|
|
|
Install
10. |
Clean phase sensor disk and camshaft sprocket
Note: The following
steps are to be performed to avoid rotating the phase sensor disc
when tightening the camshaft sprocket.
• |
Clean the contact surface of the phase sensor disk to the
camshaft sprocket
|
• |
Clean the contact surface of the camshaft sprocket to the phase
sensor disk
|
• |
Lightly coat the bolt collar of the new bolt with engine
oil
|
|
11. |
Apply camshaft sprockets (2) to camshafts
• |
Place timing chain (1) on camshaft sprockets
|
|
|
|
12. |
Install phase sensor discs
• |
Fix phase sensor discs with camshaft sprocket bolts to camshaft
sprockets
– |
Tighten hand-tight
Note: It must still be
possible to turn the phase sensor discs by hand.

Install cylinder head cover
|
15. |
Install air cleaner housing
|
