Engine, Check for Leaks, (CO Content in Cooling System) > < Compression, Check

Check engine pressure loss

  Remove

1.   Remove air cleaner housing
2.   Remove spark plugs
3.   Raise vehicle by its full height
4.   Remove lower engine compartment cover / splash protection
5.   Lower vehicle by its full height
6.   Set crankshaft to the marking of cylinder 1 TDC (Zünd-OT 1. Zylinder) of combustion stroke
•   Unscrew oil filler cover
•   Through the oil filler opening of the cylinder head cover, ensure that the cams of cylinder 3 point obliquely downward
Otherwise, rotate the crankshaft through another 360°
7.   Apply marking to belt pulley as a guide
•   120° offset to the cylinder 1 TDC mark (Zünd-OT-Zylinder-1) of combustion stroke (arrow)

Warning:   Cautiously and slowly open the coolant expansion tank cover. Scalding danger
8.   Unscrew coolant expansion tank cap
9.   Remove oil dipstick

Important:   Ensure that the adapter is long enough. The adapter coupling must be easily accessible. Do not damage spark plug thread.
10.   Attach adapter and compression tester to cylinder 1
11.   Engage gear and put the handbrake on
Note:   All the wheels must be in contact with the ground
12.   Check compression loss in cylinder 1
Note:   Observe manufacturer's instructions.
13.   Perform the compression test in a similar manner for cylinders 2 and 3

  Install

14.   Install spark plugs
15.   Insert oil dipstick
16.   Screw in coolant compensation tank cap
17.   Screw in oil filler pipe cap
18.   Install air cleaner housing
19.   Raise vehicle by its full height
20.   Install lower engine compartment cover / splash protection
21.   Lower vehicle by its full height
22.   Close bonnet
