Replace oil pressure regulating valve > < Replace oil pressure switch

Replace engine oil level sensor

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Disconnect battery
•   Detach ground connection from ground terminal
– Undo nut
3.   Raise vehicle by its full height
4.   Place collecting basin underneath.
5.   Drain engine oil
•   Unscrew drain bolt
•   Replace sealing ring
•   Tighten drain bolt 14 Nm
6.   Detach wiring harness for catalytic converter control oxygen sensor (3)
•   Disconnect wiring harness plug (1)
•   Unclip 4x wiring harness (2)

7.   Remove front exhaust pipe
•   Detach front exhaust pipe (1) from catalytic converter
– Unscrew 3x nuts (2)
•   Attach flex pipe fixing tool

8.   Remove cross brace
•   Unscrew 2x bolts
Warning:   Secure exhaust pipe against uncontrolled dropping as the flex pipe inside it may be damaged even at bends of 5-10 degrees from the intended installation position.
9.   Attach exhaust system to the underbody on the left side with a tensioning belt
•   Use a second person
•   Remove 4x damper ring
10.   Remove right engine splash guard
11.   Disconnect engine oil level sensor wiring harness plug
12.   Detach oil pan
•   Remove 3x bolts (arrows) from transmission
•   Remove 13x bolts (arrows) from engine block

13.   Prise off oil pan evenly with suitable tool
Note:   To prevent damage to the oil screen, it is necessary to ensure that the oil screen (1) remains in the oil pan. If it is left hanging on the cylinder block, push the oil screen into the oil pan using a screwdriver.

14.   Remove oil baffle plate (1)
•   Unscrew 2x bolts (2)
Note:   If the oil baffle plate is firmly stuck: carefully prise off with installing bar.

15.   Remove engine oil level sensor
•   Detach retaining plate (1) in direction of arrow
– Remove connecting plug (2) towards inside
•   Install engine oil level sensor (3)
– Unscrew 2x bolts (4)

16.   Remove oil pressure regulating valve
•   Unscrew closure bolt (1)
17.   Remove spring and piston
18.   Clean components
19.   Check parts
20.   Clean the thread

  Install

21.   Install oil pressure regulating valve
•   Install spring and piston together with closure bolt in pump module and tighten 21 Nm
22.   Install engine oil level sensor
•   Replace sealing ring
•   Tighten 2x bolt 8 Nm
•   Insert connecting plug
•   Attach wiring harness
•   Attach retaining plate
23.   Install oil baffle plate
•   Tighten 2x bolt 8 Nm
24.   Clean sealing surfaces.
25.   Check oil screen (1) position

26.   Apply a bead of oil pan sealant approx. 3.5 mm wide onto the joint surfaces (arrows)

27.   Apply oil pan sealant to the oil pan
Note:   The assembly time including the torque check must be no longer than 10 min.
•   Apply a bead of oil pan sealant (1) approx. 3.5 mm wide as shown

28.   Install oil pan
•   Screw in 16 bolts
•   Tighten 13x bolt on cylinder block 10 Nm
•   Tighten 3x bolt on transmission 40 Nm
29.   Connect engine oil level wiring harness plug
30.   Install right engine splash guard
31.   Attach exhaust system
•   Use a second person
•   Undo tensioning belt
•   Attach 4x damper ring
32.   Attach cross brace
•   Tighten 2x bolts
33.   Attach front exhaust pipe to catalytic converter
•   Detach flex pipe fixing tool
•   Tighten 3x new nut 25 Nm
Note:   Where necessary, detach and twist additional catalytic converter until exhaust system can be installed.
34.   Lower vehicle by its full height
35.   Top up engine oil
36.   Connect battery
37.   Program volatile memories
38.   Close bonnet
