Note:   A check of the colour and smell of the automatic transmission fluid provides initial diagnostic data on the condition of the mechanical components of the automatic transmission.

  Remove

1.   Preparatory measures:
  • Vehicle horizontal
  • Handbrake on
  • Brake pedal actuated
  • Engine idling, warmed up
  • Selector lever moved once through all positions from P to 1 and back again to P

  • If the transmission fluid is red, not discoloured and without particles, continue troubleshooting in accordance with Corsa-C checking instructions "Automatic 4-speed transmission AF13-II"
  • If the transmission fluid is discoloured brown/black and smells burnt, it is advisable to dismantle the transmission to examine the liner plates of the respective clutches (C) or brake (B) and replace them if necessary
  • If there is a large proportion of metal particles in the transmission fluid then it is recommended that the transmission be replaced with one that has been overhauled
