Adjust transmission shift linkage (M20 / M32) > < Remove and install MTA system wiring harness (F13 MTA / F17 MTA)

Transmission Shift Linkage, Adjust (F13+/F17+)

  Remove

1.   Undo shift guide clamp
•   Only slacken bolt (1) do not unscrew

2.   Unclip manual shift lever gaiter from centre console
•   Turn gaiter upwards
3.   Lock manual shift lever in adjustment position
•   Unclip the reverse gear inhibit connection (1) from the gearshift knob.
•   Push the reverse gear locking piece on the gear shift lever upward and rotate 90°
•   Pivot the gear shift lever to the left and insert the reverse gear locking piece with locking pin (2) into the stop (3) on the left

4.   Lock gearshift lever shaft in the gearbox cover
•   Turn gearshift rod anti-clockwise
Direction of 3rd gear
•   Engage locking pin (1) in the adjusting bore in the gearbox cover (arrow)

  Install

5.   Attach shift guide clamp
•   Tighten bolt 12 Nm + 225°
6.   Unlock the gearshift lever
•   Push the reverse gear locking piece on the gearshift lever upward and rotate back 90°
•   Push the reverse gear locking piece downward
•   Clip the reverse gear inhibit connection to the gearshift knob
7.   Remove locking pin
Note:   Locking pin in adjusting bore hole releases automatically when first shifted in "R" direction – if necessary release locking pin by hand.
8.   Clip manual shift lever gaiter to centre console
9.   Check ease of gear shifting
•   with vehicle standing
•   with engine running
•   with clutch disengaged
