Gearshift Cables, Replace (M20/M32)
 Remove

Unclip shift cables (1) from relay point
|

| 4. |
Unclip shift cables (1) from retainer
|
|
|
| 6. |
Uncouple shift cables from retainer on front axle body
|
| 7. |
Detach gearshift actuator assembly from underbody
|
| 9. |
Remove gearshift actuator assembly cover
|
| 10. |
Remove shift cables from gearshift actuator assembly
| • |
Unclip 2x cable (1) from gearshift lever
|
| • |
Unclip 2x cable (2) from gearshift actuator assembly
|
|
|
|
Install
| 11. |
Insert shift cables into gearshift actuator assembly
| • |
Clip 2x cable (2) into gearshift actuator assembly
|
| • |
Clip 2x cable (1) to gearshift lever
|
|
| 12. |
Attach gearshift actuator assembly cover
|
| 13. |
Insert assembly aid in gearshift actuator assembly
| • |
Insert guide sleeve with tab (1) into the gearshift actuator
assembly at the front left
|
| • |
Insert the guide sleeve without tab (2) into the gearshift
actuator assembly at the back left
|
|
|
|
| 14. |
Install gearshift actuator assembly with heat shield
| • |
Tighten 4 bolts (1) 22 Nm
Note: Pay attention to
the tightening sequence. First, the rear left bold (guide sleeve
without elongation hole), then the front left (guide sleeve with
elongated hole), then the right side.

Fasten the heat shield
|
|
|
| 16. |
Clip shift cables into retainer on front axle body
|
| 17. |
Install exhaust system
|
| 18. |
Attach shift cables to relay point
Note: Observe the
correct sequence.

Hang shift cables in retainer
Note: It is necessary
to ensure that the shift cables are laid correctly. The right shift
cable (1) must be laid under the left shift cable and clipped into
the shift cable bracket (2).
