Corrosion Protection, Body Shell
The completely newly designed body is exceptional due to the increased use of alloy - galvanized sheet metal parts. This improves corrosion protection even further. The following new features related to individual parts have resulted:
Floor assemblies: Increased use of sheet metal alloy - galvanized on one or both sides on the underbody, frame and areas affected by damp.
Optimal cavity sealing at sills.
Flange sealing on frame side members and floor cross members and protection against stone damage at high - risk areas with combination sealing materials (non - abrasive underseal).
Areas not threatened by stone impact are protected by underbody protective wax.
Body: Increased use of sheet metal alloy - galvanized on one or both sides on doors, wings, door frames, rear quarter panels, bonnet, roof, tailgate and pillar reinforcement. Optimised cavity sealing in bonnet, doors and wings.
Engine compartment: Flange sealing in engine compartment, at wheel well frames, bulkhead, wheel well domes and control arm supports.
Engine compartment protected with wax.
Environmental protection: Storage and transit protective wax is water - soluble.
The body parts on the following pages which are not especially marked are alloy - galvanized on one side, those marked with arrows are alloy - galvanized on both sides.
· Service
Treatment and processing of alloy - galvanized sheet metal parts does not differ from that of conventional sheet metal panels, After bodyworking, appropriate further treatment (corrosion protection) must be carried out as previously.
