During diagnosis with TECH 1, the system telltale does not extinguish.

When TECH 1 is disconnected, the telltale extinguishes after about 4 s only if the control unit has not recognized a fault in the system.

For checking operations, observe the safety regulations detailed in section 1.1 of these Checking Procedures.

The vehicle battery must always be disconnected except when the checking operations include voltage measurement.

·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect battery

·   Disconnect instrument panel/contact

     unit wiring harness plug X 91

    (observe safety measures)

·   Disconnect co-driver airbag unit

     wiring harness plug X 93 (if present)

·   Disconnect airbag control unit wiring harness plug X 90 (observe safety measures)

·   Connect battery

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

System telltale OFF

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·   Short circuit to voltage

     from:      ignition lock S 1 Ter. 15

     to:          telltale H 23

·   Ignition lock S 1 defective.

 

·   Ignition ON

System telltale ON

Corsa-B only:

·   Fuse F 17 defective.

 

Astra-F only:

·   Fuse F 7 defective.

 

Vectra/Cavalier, Calibra only:

·   Fuse F 2 defective.

 

 

All vehicles:

·   Telltale H 23 defective.

·   Lead interruption

     from:      ignition lock S 1 Ter. 15

     to:          telltale H 23

·   Inspect airbag control unit wiring harness plug X 90 (short circuit bridge Ter. 9 to Ter. 10)

·   Fault in wiring harness between instrument and airbag control unit (see following checks)

 

 

·   Insert Adapter KM-609-9 from Electronic Kit I in airbag control unit wiring harness plug X 90 in slot under Ter. 9 and Ter. 10 (short circuit bridge opened)

 

 

 

System telltale OFF

 

 

 

Corsa-B only:

·   Short circuit to ground

     from:      instrument wiring harness plug X 17 Ter. 10

     to:          airbag control unit wiring harness plug X 90 Ter. 9

 

Astra-F, Vectra/Cavalier, Calibra only:

·   Short circuit to ground

     from:      instrument wiring harness plug X 22 Ter. 2

     to:          airbag control unit wiring harness plug X 90 Ter. 9

 

·   Measure voltage:

     from:      airbag control unit wiring harness plug X 90 Ter. 9

     to:          ground

 

 

 

 

greater than 11 V

 

 

 

 

Corsa-B only:

·   Lead interruption

     from:      instrument wiring

                   harness plug X 17 Ter. 10

     to:          airbag control unit wiring harness plug X 90 Ter. 9

 

Astra-F, Vectra/Cavalier, Calibra only:

·   Lead interruption

     from:      instrument wiring harness plug X 22 Ter. 2

     to:          airbag control unit wiring harness plug X 90 Ter. 9

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Measure voltage:

     from:      airbag control unit wiring harness plug X 90 Ter. 9

     to:          ground

 

 

 

 

less than 0.1 V

 

 

 

 

·   Short circuit in wiring harness

     from:      airbag control unit wiring harness plug X 90 Ter. 9

     to:          battery +, Ter. 30

 

 

If nominal values are attained

·   Airbag control unit wiring harness plug X 90 defective.

·   Control unit defective.
