Note:

The rocker switch for longitude forwards/ backwards is the centre part of the first switch from the front of the seat.

If the corresponding motor circuit is also okay, the seat moves forwards or backwards.

If the motor has already moved to one of its end stops, the motor will only move again when the above rocker switch is pressed in the other direction.

If the nominal values for the rocker switch are attained but the seat motor does not respond, carry out test step 7.

The rocker switches for seat adjustment (S40) are connected to control unit K103 by a 9-pin plug.

The rocker switch for longitude forwards (S40.7), is wired between Ter. 3 (blue) and Ter. 1 (black) in the 9-pin plug

The rocker switch for longitude backwards (S40.8), is wired between Ter. 3 (blue) and Ter. 1 (blue) in the 9-pin plug

Notes on Trouble-shooting:

Nominal Value:

Cause of fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

·   Check whether rocker switch for longitude forwards/ backwards jams

Switch can move forwards and backwards

·   Rocker switch or seat panelling mechanically faulty

·   Ignition OFF, disconnect battery negative terminal

·   Remove driver's seat

·   S40.7 defective (switch contact does not open)

·   Lead short circuit between S40.7 and 9-pin plug Ter. 3 (blue) and Ter. 1 (black)

·   Release 9-pin plug and disconnect from control unit K103

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance in 9-pin plug between Ter. 3 (blue) and Ter. 1 (black).

Rocker switch for longitude forwards (S40.7) not actuated

higher than 200 kW

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance in 9-pin plug between Ter. 3 (blue) and Ter. 1 (black). Press rocker switch for longitude forwards (S40.7) forwards:

lower than 2 W

·   S40.7 defective (switch contact does not close)

·   Lead interruption between S40.7 and 9-pin plug Ter. 3 (blue) and Ter. 1 (black)

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance in 9-pin plug between Ter. 3 (blue) and Ter. 1 (blue). Rocker switch for longitude backwards (S40.8) not actuated:

higher than 200 kW

·   S40.8 defective (switch contact does not open)

·   Lead short circuit between S40.8 and 9-pin plug Ter. 3 (blue) and Ter. 1 (blue)

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance in 9-pin plug between Ter. 3 (blue) and Ter. 1 (blue). Press rocker switch for longitude backwards (S40.8) backwards:

lower than 2 W

·   S40.8 defective (switch contact does not close)

·   Lead interruption between S40.8 and 9-pin plug Ter. 3 (blue) and Ter. 1 (blue)

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance in 9-pin plug between

Ter. 1 (blue) and ground (seat console)

Ter. 3 (blue) and ground (seat console)

Ter. 1 (black) and ground (seat console)
