Instrument Panel Padding, Remove and Install (up
to MY '99)
 Remove
|
Disconnect battery.
|
|
Airbag unit on driver's side (1)
|
|
Lower steering column panelling (2) – 3 bolts
|
|
Steering wheel (3) – see operation "Steering Wheel, Remove
and Install" in group "M".
|
|
Upper steering column panelling
|
|
Switch, wash/wipe system – see operation "Switch,
Wash/Wipe System, Remove and Install" in group "N". Signal switch
– see operation "Signal Switch, Remove and Install" in group
"N".

|
Retainer console for switches – 2 bolts (Torx)
|
|
Lower cover (4)
|
|
Lever off cover from side vent nozzles (5) on driver's side.
|
|
|
|
Lamp switch - see operation "Lamp Switch Centre, Remove and
Install" in group "N".
|
|
Disconnect plug from lamp switch to one side.
|
|
Disconnect plug connection from vent nozzle illumination.
|
|
Vent nozzle on driver's side – 3 bolts
|
|
Disconnect ignition lock plug connection, turning ignition key
to position "1" – see operation "Contact for Steering and
Ignition Lock, Replace" in group "N".
|
|
|
|
Lever out centre vent nozzles (2).
|
|
Centre vent guide (1) – 2 bolts
|
|
Instrument assembly - see operation "Instrument Assembly, Remove
and Install, Warning Lamps and Lighting - Instrument Assembly,
Replace" in group "N".
|
|
Release fuse box – 2 bolts and detach.
|
|
Unbolt relay box – 2 bolts and detach.
|
|
Front ashtray – 1 bolt (3)
|
|
Detach ashtray plug connection.
|
|
Radio – see operation "Radio, Remove and Install" in group
"R".
|
|
Heating system control knobs - see operation "Control Panel,
Remove and Install, Heating/Air-Conditioning System, Remove and
Install (up to MY 2000)" in group "D".
|
|
Instrument panel centre switch – see operation "Instrument
Panel Centre Switch, Remove and Install" in group "N".
|
|
Unbolt panel for controls – 4 bolts (4) at top and 2 bolts
at bottom.
|
|
Disconnect plug connections.
|
|
|
|
Remove base plate for heating and ventilation system – 3
bolts.
|
|
Disconnect plug connections.
|
|
Detach temperature control Bowden cables (1).
|
|
Unclip vacuum hoses from temperature control (2).
|
|
Centre console – see operation "Centre Console, Remove and
Install".
|
|
Centre console bracket
|
|
|
|
Lever off vent nozzle cover on passenger's side.
|
|
Lower panelling
|
|
Lever off air duct.
|
|
Vent nozzle on passenger's side (3) – 4 bolts
|
|
|
|
Glove compartment at top
|
|
Remove passenger's side airbag unit cover – 3 bolts at
bottom and 1 bolt at top.
|
|
Airbag unit on passenger's side – see operation "Airbag
Unit on Passenger's Side, Remove and Install".
|
|
Bracket for airbag unit – 4 bolts (1)
|
|
|
|
Glove compartment below – 4 bolts
|
|
A pillar left and right inner panelling
|
|
Passenger's side vent duct
|
|
Air duct below on passenger's side
|
|
Unclip main wiring harness in radio area three times.
|
|
Detach air duct on driver's side.
|
|
|
|
Left instrument panel padding – 4 bolts
|
|
|
Right instrument panel padding – 4 bolts
|
|
Install
|
Insert instrument panel padding.
|
|
Air duct on driver's side
|
|
Fasten wiring harness for instrument panel.
|
|
Passenger's side vent duct
|
|
Upper A-pillar inner panelling
|
|
Remove glove compartment.
|
|
Airbag unit on passenger's side
|
|
Cover, passenger airbag
|
|
Vent nozzle, passenger's side (1)
