  Remove

Remove rear differential (1) – see operation "Rear Differential, Remove and Install or Replace".

If the fastening pin for the rear muffler does not allow access to the left damping bushing for Remover/Installer KM-671, detach damping rings for rear muffler.

For saloon, when replacing right damping bushing: Open fuel filter retaining strap (2). Unscrew fastening bolt for fuel line bracket (3). Suspend fuel line slightly to one side.

Damping bushings are removed from inside outwards.

Illustration shows right damping bushing:

Clamp damping bushing between KM-671 (3) and KM-833-4 (4) by completely screwing on lock nut (5). Damping bushing is removed by holding bolt (1) and turning nut (2).

  Install

Insert new damping bushing with slotted hole (arrow) in horizontal position. Damping bushings are pressed in from outside inwards.

Clamp damping bushing between KM-671 (3) and KM-833-5 (6) (collar side faces damping bushing) by completely screwing on lock nut (5). Damping bushing is drawn in by holding bolt (1) and turning nut (2), until KM-833-5 (6) contacts rear axle body.

Remove KM-671 and KM-833-5.

  Measure

Measure gap (I) between the two damping bushes. Nominal value 300 to 302 mm.

If necessary: correct the gap by smoothly withdrawing KM-671 and KM-833-4 on both damping bushes.

  Install

If removed: Attach damping rings for rear muffler.

For saloon: Attach fuel line bracket to vehicle underbody. Fasten fuel filter retaining strap.

Install rear differential, see operation "Rear Differential, Remove and Install or Replace".
