Cylinder Block|Con Rod > < Con-rod Bearing Clearance, Check (Determine Bearing Clearance with Micrometer and Inside Micrometer)

Con-rod Bearing, Remove and Install

  Remove

Remove oil pan – see operation "Oil Pan, Remove and Install".

Remove oil intake pipe (3 attachment screws).

Remove bearing bridge attachment screws (1) and (2).

Remove bearing bridge (3).

Con-rod and con-rod bearing cover (4) are marked with the same pairing number (5), do not interchange.

Remove con-rod bearing cap from con-rod.

Remove con-rod bearing from con-rod and con-rod bearing cap.

  Install

One red and one blue bearing shell (2) must be installed for each con-rod (1). The red or blue bearing shells may be inserted into the con-rod or the con-rod bearing cover.

The con-rod and the con-rod bearing cover are marked with the same pairing number – do not interchange.

Caution

Measure con-rod journal grinding stage by measuring with micrometer gauge. Crankshaft grinding stage (3) – see "Technical Data".

  Install

Attach con-rod bearing cover to con-rod with new attachment screws – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. + 70°.

Attach bearing bridge to cylinder block – tightening torque 23 Nm / 17 lbf. ft.

Attach oil intake pipe and new oil seal (1) (sealing bead (2) facing oil pump) to oil pump (3 attachment screws) – tightening torque 11 Nm / 8 lbf. ft.

Install oil pan – see operation "Oil Pan, Remove and Install".
