Oil Heat Exchanger Cover and Engine Ventilation Housing
Vehicles:

Vectra-A/Cavalier, Calibra and Omega-B with V6 DOHC petrol engine (C 25 XE, X
25 XE and X 30 XE)
Condition:
With
the above-mentioned engines, the sealing of the heat exchanger cover and of the
engine ventilation housing to the cylinder block is being changed in
production. The current moulded gaskets are being replaced by a liquid gasket
(silicone sealing compound).
The oil deflector located in
the moulded gasket on the old engine ventilation housing is integrated in the
new engine ventilation housing.

Remedy:
1.
Engine oil heat exchanger cover:
With
both the old version with moulded gasket (seal ring) and the new version with
liquid gasket, sealing with liquid gasket is undertaken after removing the
cover.
Clean
the sealing surfaces of the cover and cylinder block; they must not display
any score marks or scratches. Then apply the liquid gasket to the entire
circumference of the cover and immediately install "wet" (illus.
F 3234, dimension I approx. 2 mm/0.08 in.).
Note:
The
groove of the new cover has been changed in the area of the through holes for
the fastening screws. Independently of this change, the old cover may also be
re-used in case of repair.

2.
Engine ventilation housing
Do
not re-use the old housing and gasket with oil deflector after
removal, but replace it with a new housing with integrated oil deflector and
liquid gasket.
After
removing a new housing with integrated oil deflector and liquid gasket, clean
the sealing surfaces of the housing and cylinder block; they must not display
any score marks or scratches.
To
install the new housing with integrated oil deflector, apply liquid gasket to
the sealing surface of the housing and immediately install "wet"
(illus. F 3236, dimension I approx. 2 mm/0.08 in.).
