Nominal Value
|
Cause of
Fault:
(If nominal
value is not attained)
|
a) Vehicles without
anti-theft warning system and immobilizer:
· Disconnect wiring harness plug from
DDE control unit K70
· Ignition ON
· Using multimeter, measure voltage
from: wiring
harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: ground
|
greater
than 11 V
|
· Short circuit to ground
from: wiring
harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: wiring
harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 15
· Circuit interruption
from: wiring
harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: wiring
harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 15
|
|
|
|
|
If nominal values are attained
|
· DDE control unit K70 defective
|
Note:
The following instructions for turning the key to
the left or the right refer to a vehicle with left-hand drive. For vehicles
with right-hand drive, turn the key in the opposite direction in each case.
In British vehicles, the immobilizer is armed as
soon as the key is removed from the ignition lock.
|
|
|
b) Vehicles without anti-theft
warning system and with immobilizer:
· Disarm immobilizer with centre button on infrared
key transmitter
· Disconnect wiring harness plug from DDE control
unit K70
· Ignition ON
· Using multimeter, measure voltage
from: wiring harness plug for DDE
control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: ground
|
greater than 11 V
|
· Short circuit to ground/ circuit interruption
from: wiring harness plug for DDE
control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: wiring harness plug for
immobilizer control unit K117 Ter. 21
· Fault in immobilizer circuit (see Checking
Procedures, Electronic Body Systems)
|
· Using multimeter, measure voltage
from: wiring harness plug for DDE
control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: ground
· Ignition OFF
· Arm immobilizer using centre button on infrared
key transmitter (LED flashes)
· Ignition ON
|
lower than 0.1 V
|
· Short circuit to voltage
from: wiring harness plug for DDE
control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: wiring harness plug for
immobilizer control unit K117 Ter. 21
· Fault in immobilizer circuit (see Checking
Procedures, Electronic Body Systems)
|
c) Vehicles with anti-theft warning
system and immobilizer:
· Disarm anti-theft warning system (turn key 30° to
the left in driver's door)
· Disconnect wiring harness plug from DDE control
unit K70
· Ignition ON
· Using multimeter, measure voltage
from: wiring harness plug for DDE
control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: ground
|
greater than 11 V
|
· Short circuit to ground
from: wiring harness plug for DDE
control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: wiring harness plug for
anti-theft warning system control unit K94 Ter. 21
|
|
|
· Circuit interruption
from: wiring harness plug for DDE
control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: wiring harness plug for
anti-theft warning system control unit K94 Ter. 21
· Fault in anti-theft warning system circuit (see
Checking Procedures, Electronic Body Systems)
|
· Using multimeter, measure voltage
from: wiring harness plug for DDE
control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: ground
· Ignition OFF
· All doors closed
· Arm anti-theft warning system (turn key 60° to
the right in driver's door)
· Wait at least 10 s (anti-theft warning
system armed)
· Ignition ON
|
lower than 0.1 V
(Alarm is triggered)
|
· Short circuit to voltage
from: wiring harness plug for DDE
control unit K70 Ter. 45
to: wiring harness plug for
anti-theft warning system control unit K94 Ter. 21
· Fault in anti-theft warning system circuit (see
Checking Procedures, Electronic Body Systems)
|
Note:
This test is best performed by two mechanics and
with two keys. If this is not possible, leave driver's side window open.
At the end of this test, the set alarm code must be
deleted (see Checking Procedures, Electronic Body Systems)
