VARIANT CODING

 

Note:

As there is only one control unit type available for both the X 20 SE engine (closed loop oxygen sensor circuit) and the 20 SE engine (open loop oxygen sensor circuit), the control unit must be reprogrammed on installation or when transferred to a different vehicle. The programming specifies whether the engine is equipped with a closed loop or open loop oxygen sensor circuit.

This programming should be performed with TECH 1 according to the following instructions.

Engine OFF

 

Press key F7 in the system main menu, use the arrow keys to select the desired test and confirm with YES.

Follow the instructions in the TECH 1 display.

 

 

When asked whether the correct control unit is installed, proceed according to the following instructions

and / or the latest "Technical Information Bulletins":

At present, the OMEGA - B with the X 20 SE or 20 SE engine is equipped with the following control unit:

Opel Part No.:   90457096

Alpha Code       PQ

 

EXISTING ECU

PART - NO / AC

XXXXXXX / XX

OKAY?

If the question is answered with "YES", TECH 1 shows the display on the right:

The display shows the engine programmed in the control unit at present, or "unknown".

If "unknown" appears in the display, or a different engine is to be programmed, proceed with NO and select

the relevant engine in the following displays:

X 20 SE (closed loop oxygen sensor circuit)

20 SE (open loop oxygen sensor circuit)

OKAY?

If the display on the right appears after programming is completed, programming was successful.

 

VARIANT CODING SUCCESSFULLY

PROGRAMMED!

If the display on the right appears after programming is completed, a fault has occurred during programming.

Carry out the following measures consecutively:

 

Read trouble code; no trouble codes should be stored;

Repeat programming;

Carry out TECH 1 self - test;

Check TECH 1 cable for damaged insulation and shielding;

Repeat programming with new MOTRONIC control unit
