-      Engine running at idle speed, operating temperature

 

Alternative check,

if engine is already warm:

-      Engine warm, disconnect coolant temperature sensor

-      Restart engine

Note:   If the coolant temperature sensor is disconnected, a trouble code is set when the engine is switched off.

              This must be deleted the next time the engine is started.

              First check secondary air injection relay K12 with F5: ACTUATOR TEST, no. 07. If the results of this test are negative, proceed with troubleshooting as described below.

Omega - B:

 

·     Disconnect secondary air injection relay K12 from relay base. Ignition On.

   Using multimeter, measure voltage at relay base K12 to ground

 

 

 

       -      to Ter. 4 (Ter. 86)

greater than 11.5 V

·     Interruption or short circuit to ground in lead connection from control unit K69 / Ter. 46 or from reverse battery protection relay K42 / Ter. 8 (Ter. 87) via plug connection X30 / Ter. 6 to secondary air injection relay K12 / Ter. 4

 

 

       -      to Ter. 8 (Ter. 87)

 

 

 

 

·     Ignition Off. Disconnect wiring harness plug from control unit K69. Ignition On.

      Using multimeter, check connection between wiring harness plug K69 / Ter. 44 and relay base K12 / Ter. 6 (Ter. 85)

greater than 11.5 V

·     Fuse F49 defective

·     Interruption in lead from relay Kl 2 / Ter. 8 (Ter. 87) to + battery voltage

 

       -      for passage,

       -      for short circuit to ground,

       -      for short circuit to + battery voltage

·     Interruption, short circuit to ground or to positive terminal in lead connection from control unit K69 / Ter. 44 via plug connection X 30 / Ter. 1 to secondary air injection relay K12 / Ter. 6 (Ter. 85)

 

 

·     Ignition Off. Using multimeter, measure voltage and resistance between relay base K12 / Ter. 2 (Ter. 30) and ground

0 V, approx. 7 W

·     Interruption or short circuit to ground or positive terminal in lead connection from relay base K12 / Ter. 2 (Ter. 30) to

       -      secondary air injection solenoid valve Y15

       -      secondary air pump motor M27

·     Interruption in lead connection from

       -      secondary air injection solenoid valve

       -      secondary air pump motor M27 to ground

      

 

Further possible faults:

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vectra / Cavatier, Calibra:

 

·     Disconnect secondary air injection relay K12 from relay base. Ignition On.

       Using multimeter, measure voltage at relay base K12 to ground

 

·     Secondary air injection relay K12 defective

·     Secondary air injection solenoid valve defective

·     Secondary air pump motor M27 defective

 

       -      to Ter. 4 (Ter. 86)

greater than 11.5 V

·     Interruption or short circuit to ground in lead connection from control unit K69 / Ter. 46 or from fuel pump relay K68 / Ter. 8 (Ter. 87) via plug connection X57 to secondary air injection relay K 12 / Ter. 4

 

 

       -      an Kl. 8 (Kl.87)

 

 

 

 

Ignition Off. Disconnect wiring harness plug from control unit K69. Ignition On.

          Using multimeter, check connection between wiring harness plug K69 / Ter. 44 and relay base K12 / Ter. 6 (Ter. 85)

greater than 11.5 V

·     Fuse F49 defective

·     Interruption in lead from relay Kl 2 / Ter. 8 (Ter. 87) to + battery voltage

       -      for short circuit to ground,

       -      for short circuit to + battery voltage

       -      secondary air pump motor M27

·     Interruption in lead connection from

       -      secondary air injection solenoid valve

       -      secondary air pump motor M27 to ground

 

 

Further possible faults:

 

·     Secondary air injection relay K12 defective

·     Secondary air injection solenoid valve defective

·     Secondary air pump motor M27 defective
