Hydraulic System, Top Up and Bleed

Note:   In the Omega-B with Y 25 DT engine, the fluid reservoir (1) is mounted on the radiator.

In all the other engine versions, the fluid reservoir (2) is seated on the left spring strut dome in front of the brake servo.

Use the dipstick to check the fluid level with the screwed-on closure cap (5) of the fluid reservoir.

  Adjust

Top up hydraulic fluid initially to the mark "MAX" (4) with the engine switched off.

Start engine and immediately top up with fluid up to lower mark "MIN" (3).

Caution

Power steering pump must not be allowed to run dry. It is not permitted to re-use drained fluid.

  Adjust

Turn steering wheel slowly 2 to 3 times approx. 45° to the left and to the right with the engine running and then turn from stop to stop twice, then hold in each stop position for approx. 10 seconds.

Correct fluid level in fluid reservoir again.

Stop engine and check fluid level.

Fluid level at:

Fluid at operating temperature approx. 80 °C up to MAX (1)

Fluid cold approx. 20 °C up to MIN (2)
