Engine - Strong vibrations while reverse driving

Models:

Vectra-B 97-2000

Engines:

2.0D

Option:

X20DTL, F 18

Group:

J - Engine

Troublecode:

Non

Complaint:

Noises or Vibrations

Strong vibrations while reverse driving, especially on a gradient.

Cause:

Due the high torque the rear attenuation block is on the upper stop. The stop is too small to isolate the vibrations which are transfered to the body as a result of this.

Production Solution:

Remedy:

Special Part:

No

1.    Installation of a new attenuation block (B) with a shortened internal stop.

2.    Installation of a bigger stop (C) for bracing the torque. For work to remove and reinstall the attenuation - see Service-Instruction Vectra-B, X20DTL.

Working procedure:

Hang out fuel filter element and disconnect electrical.

Remove fuel filter mount.

Loose clamp of gearshift lever and disconnect gearshift linkage from gearshift.

Remove security clips of gearshift linkage.

Hang gearshift linkage out of mount and lay on side.

Install and fix engine bridge MKM-883-1, hang engine on bridge.

Lift on engine.

Remove lower engine shield.

Remove right axle shaft - see Service-Instruction Vectra-B, X20DTL.

Remove front exhaust pipe.

Remove fixing bolts (1) of front subframe.

Object Number: 2434770 Size: DEFAULT

Remove fixing bolts (3) of transmission.

Remove downwards bracket engine support.

Remove bracket (2) of engine support.

Lay bracket for additional torque support (A) on engine bracket support and cut back the rib (1) until the new bracket for the torque support lies evenly on the fixing points.

Reinstall the new mount on bracket engine support (2) - torque 45 Nm.

Install new engine support (B) with existing fixing bolts - torque 20 Nm.

Thread cutting on transmission and install bracket engine support with additional torque support using new fixing bolts - torque 60 Nm.

Assemble torque on absorber (C) and bolt on bracket - torque 20 Nm.

The final adjustemnt of the gap between torque support and front subframe must be 2 mm (+/-0.2 mm).

Lower engine until engine suports under full load.

Remove engine bridge MKM-883-1.

Hang in gearshift lever in mounts and secure with clips.

Reinstall front exhaust pipe with new gasket and new nuts on manifold - torque 12 Nm.

Reinstall front exhaust pipe on muffler - torque 12 Nm.

Reinstall right axle shaft - see Service-instruction Vectra-B, X20DTL.

Reinstall gearshift linkage on gearshift.

Adjust gearshifter - see Service-Instruction Vectra-B, X20DTL.

Install mount of fuel filter element.

Hang in fuel filter element and connect electrical.

Check transmission fluid level and correct if necessary - see Service Instruction Vectra-B, X20DTL.

Reinstall lower engine shield
