Chafing of heating water hose on Motronic cable trough. Chafing of coolant hose on clutch bleeding nipple.

 

Cause:

Poor design.

Production Solution:

 

Remedy:

Replace heating water hose. Reposition Motronic wiring trough.

Replace coolant hose.

 

The following description is for LHD vehicles.

For RHD vehicles a similar procedure should befollowed.

 

This field remedy instruction "Replace heating water hose and reposition Motronic wiring trough" is valid for all vehicles with X 25 XE motor (manual or automatic transmission) from the Antwerp production plant SOP to T 5056089. Additionally replacement of the coolant hose is valid forall X 25 XE vehicles with manual transmission from the Antwerp roduction plant SOP to T 5056089.

 

 

Procedure:

 

Removal:

Open hood. Remove battery and battery tray. Remove the central connector (green) and the sparkplug cable connectors for the cylinders 2, 4, 6 from the DIS module. Remove coolant hose fromreservoir and heating water supply hose from the motor block. Remove the heating water return hose from the cylinder head. Release both heating hose quick release connections and remove the hoses from their support.

 

Note:

For all X 25 XE manual transmission vehicles. Remove the lower coolant hose loop from the radiator and motor block.Fit the new coolant hose loop using the original screw clamps to the  radiator and motor block.

 

Removal:

Unscrew the Motronic cable trough (A) from it's support and remove.

Unscrew the heat shielding (B) from the motor block and remove.

Remove the 2 threaded studs (C) from the motor block.

Replacement:

Secure the heat shield with the spring washers (1) and studs (2) to the cylinder head. Secure the Motronic cable trough to the heatshield and support. Install the hose clips on the new coolant hose and secure the hose in the vehicle. Push the quick fittings of the heating hoses fully onto the pipe boss. Press the securing ring (3) towards the fire wall (arrow indicates direction) and remove the green lock ring (4).

The locking collar (5) must sit fully over the raised lip (6) of the connection.

 

Note:

For Sweden, Norway and Finland the additional circulation pump must be removed and refitted. Refit the heating hoses to the motor block and cylinder head. Reinstall the coolant hose from the coolant hose from the reservoir and motor block.

Reconnect the spark plug cables and central green cable to the DIS module. Lock the central cable. Reinstall the battery tray and battery. Replenish the coolant. Start the motor and allow to idle. Recheck the coolant level and replenish as required.
