Fuel Pressure Regulator, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL with Secondary Air System)  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove engine cover (1) from cylinder head cover.   Disconnect/detach all wiring harness plugs connected with the wiring trough or wiring loom (2). Remove wiring trough and lay aside to rear with wiring loom.     Important!    Fuel escapes - observe safety measures and national legislation. Connect Fuel Pressure Gauge KM-J-34730-91 to test connection on fuel distributor pipe. Reduce fuel pressure by opening valve on fuel pressure gauge. Collect escaping fuel in a suitable container.     Remove, Disconnect    Detach vacuum hose (3) and fuel return line (4) from fuel pressure regulator.   Remove fastening bolt (5) and remove fuel pressure regulator from fuel distributor pipe.

  Clean   

Clean fuel pressure regulator - ensure utmost cleanliness.  

  Install, Connect   

Insert fuel pressure regulator in fuel distributor pipe with new seal ring.  

Attach fuel pressure regulator and bracket for wiring harness plug of crankshaft pulse pick-up to fuel distributor pipe - 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.  

Attach fuel return line to fuel pressure regulator - counterhold on fuel pressure regulator.  

Connect vacuum hose to fuel pressure regulator.  

Secure wiring trough to upper part of inlet manifold and attach or plug together all wiring harness plugs.  

Install engine cover on cylinder head cover.
