Steering Gear: Adjustments
Steering Gear, Adjusting

Notes:  
-

Two technicians are required for the adjusting procedure.

-

Adjust with the engine switched off.

-

Vehicle raised on hoist.

-

Wheels in straight-ahead position.

-

First technician: turn steering wheel back and forth (approximately 30° from center axis).
Knocking noise will be heard if there is excessive play.

-

Second technician: carefully turn adjustment screw in until knocking noise can no longer be heard inside vehicle.

-

Road test.

-

Steering must self-center without sticking when maneuvering or cornering.

-

Secure lock nut with punch mark (arrow).
