Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair
Differential Side Seal, Automatic Transaxle
Required special tools and equipment.

VW 681 Oil seal extractor
^
3301 Spindle with nut from assembly too]
^
3319 Thrust piece
^
VA.G 1306 Drip tray
^
VA.G 1331 Torque wrench or similar
^
VA.G 1332 Torque wrench or similar
^
Kukko 18/0 Puller
^
2 Bolts M8 x 35 mm
^
Washers 8 mm
When replacing right oil seal:
^
Remove noise insulation panel -arrows-.
^
Remove right inner constant velocity joint protective cover from engine if installed.
^
Remove bolts of drive shaft from drive flange.
^
Place drive shaft to one side and secure.
^
If necessary remove right drive shaft
When replacing left oil seal:
^
Loosen wheel bolts with vehicle standing on its wheels.
^
Lift vehicle.
^
Remove wheel.
