Idle Boost Valve: Testing and Inspection
Idle Speed Boost Valve 1

1.

Ensure A/C is switched Off, if equipped and engine oil temperature is greater than 176°F.

2.

Run engine at idle , then turn On all electrical accessories. Switch off A/C, if equipped.

3.

Turn in idle speed adjusting screw to lower idle, at about 750 RPM, valve 1 must open (speed increasing).

4.

Pinch off vacuum line to boost valve, RPM must drop.

5.

If RPM does not drop, disconnect electrical connector to boost valve and measure voltage between connector and ground using multimeter US
1119 or equivalent. Must be approximately 12 volts.

6.

If not within specification, inspect and repair wiring necessary, or replace boost valve.

7.

Adjust idle speed to 870--930 RPM with vacuum line pinched, then open hose, RPM must increase. At about 1050 RPM valve must close and
RPM drops to idle specification.
