Thermo Time Switch: Testing and Inspection
Thermo-Time Switch

    With engine cold, test light will come on for several seconds while cranking engine, then flash on and off at regular intervals. With engine hot, test
light will come on after two seconds while cranking engine, then flash on and off at regular intervals.

1.

Ensure coolant temperature is below 86°F.

2.

Ensure thermo-time switch cutoff temperature is as stamped on switch.

3.

Remove connector from cold start valve and connect test light across terminals of connector.

4.

Remove coil wire from distributor cap and connect to ground.

5.

Crank starter for 10 seconds. Test light should go on for approximately one to eight seconds, depending on temperature.

6.

If test light does not illuminate, replace thermo-time switch.
