Safety Circuit Breaker: Service and Repair

Battery Interrupt Igniter

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

CAUTION!
‹› Observe safety measures when working on Battery Interrupt Igniter (N253). Refer to => [ Battery Interrupt Igniter Usage and Safety

Removing:

-

Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

-

Disconnect battery, refer to => [ Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries In Luggage Compartment ] See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service
and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Disconnecting and Connecting Batteries In Luggage Compartment.

Open locks of main fuse box - 1 - by rotating 90° counterclockwise and fold open cover downward.

-

Remove collar nut - 1 - (15 Nm) and remove B+ wire -  2 - from connection thread.

-

Remove self-locking nut - 4 - and remove Battery Interrupt Igniter - 3 - from connector threads while being careful of connected lines.

Disengage harness connector - 1 - by pulling locking button - 3 - in - direction of arrow -.
