Fit lower toothed belt guard and also fit M8 mounting bolt for coolant pump

-

Adjust toothed belt tension by turning coolant pump using VW 210

^

Scale value: 12 to 13, measured between coolant pump and camshaft sprocket

-

Tighten coolant pump mounting bolts

^

2O Nm (15 ft lb) 

-

Tighten lower toothed belt guard

-

Ensure crankshaft is still at cyl. 1 TDC, correct if necessary

-

Tighten camshaft sprocket mounting bolt using 3036 counter-hold tool

^

Observe coding embossed on bolt head:

8.8 = 85 Nm (63 ft lb)

10.9 = 100 Nm (74 ft lb)

-

Remove 2065 A setting bar from camshaft

-

Attach 3248 A counter-hold tool and tighten crankshaft vibration damper/toothed belt pulley center bolt

^

460 Nm (340 ft lb) 

Note:  3248 Counter-hold tool can be used if tool 3248 A cannot be attached.
