Modified locating and mounting of the selector shaft in the gearbox

U34-0121

From gearbox build date 07 02 9 the locating and mounting of the selector shaft has been modified:

  • ‒ Locating the selector shaft

Previously: The selector shaft 1 was located via a ball detent.

New:

The selector shaft 1 is located by the locating screw 2 via the detent element 3.

The locating screw is installed in place of the previous peg screw. To do this the thread in the gearbox housing has been increased in
diameter to accept the locating screw.

Tightening torque: 20 Nm

Note:

Before reinstalling the locating screw, two threads are to be coated with sealing compound AMV 188 200 03.

  • ‒ Selector shaft mounting

Previously: Sliding mounting

New:

Mounted in bearing sleeves.

The selector shaft is mounted in the stop cap 4 and in the gearbox housing with bearing sleeves 5 and 6.

Note:

The bearing sleeve 5 can only be exchanged in conjunction with the stop cap 4 - Fig. 1.

Removing and installing the bearing sleeve 6 - Fig. 2 and 3. Fitting location - Fig. 3.

The oil seal 7 has been changed to suit the modified selector shaft mounting -allocation- Fig. 4.

Removing: lever out with the lever 681.

Installing: Fig. 5

Note:

The modified "internal selector mechanism" cannot be installed in the previous gearbox housing.
