• ‒ Briefly run engine to fill the float chamber.

• ‒ Remove air cleaner.
• ‒ → Open choke valve and fix in position with retainer.
• ‒ Push tube over end of injection pipe of carburettor.
• ‒ Open throttle until fuel emerges from tube.
• ‒ Hold measuring glass under tube and slowly open throttle fully five times (at least 3 seconds per stroke).
• ‒ Divide injected quantity by 5. Compare result to specified value and correct where necessary.

→ carburettors 055 129 015 D and E

- = Smaller injection capacity.

+ = Greater injection capacity.

→ carburettor 055 129 015 K/L/Q/R/S/T/ as well as 055 129 022 S/T and 055 129 023 D/J

•      a =     Smaller injection capacity.
•      b =     Greater injection capacity.

The jet of fuel must strike the collar on the discharge arm.

Checking venting of float chamber

(carburettor 055 129 015 L/Q/R only)

To facilitate driving off under full load (on hills or with trailer), intake manifold pressure (vacuum) acts on the float chamber with throttle valve fully open up to approx. 1800 rpm.

•      1 -     → To terminal 15
•      2 -     To engine speed relay in relay plate
•      3 -     vacuum hose intake manifold.

• ‒ → Connect up ignition tester V.A.G 1367 with clip-on trigger V.A.G 1367/8 or ignition tester V.A.G 1767.

• ‒ → Connect up diode test lamp V.A.G 1527 to switching valve.
• ‒ Start engine and let it idle. The LED must light.
• ‒ Increase engine speed. The LED must go out at 1700...1900 rpm.

→ a = To terminal 15, fuse box.

• ‒ In the event of malfunction, the leads are to be checked/the relay renew.
