Note:

Exhaust valve seat rings also have a reduced diameter. When reworking, ensure that the radius of the reduced diameter is not damaged.

Hydraulic bucket tappets ( engines 08.85 ä )

Note:

Only rework the valve seats enough to produce a perfect contact pattern. Before reworking commences calculate the maximum permissible reworking dimension. If this dimension is exceeded, correct functioning of the hydraulic valve clearance compensation can no longer be guaranteed and the cylinder must be renewed.

Calculating maximum permissible reworking dimension

• ‒ Insert valve and press it firmly against the valve seat.

• ‒ → Measure distance -a- between end of valve stem and upper edge of cylinder head. Calculate the maximum permissible reworking dimension from the measured distance -a- and the minimum dimension.

• Minimum dimension:
• Inlet valve 33.8 mm
• Exhaust valve 34.1 mm
