With optical oil pressure indicator

• ‒ → Remove 0.3 bar oil pressure switch (brown insulation), screw it into the tester and attach wire -1- (blue).
• ‒ Screw tester into cylinder head in place of oil pressure switch.
• ‒ Connect diode test lamp V.A.G 1527 -2- to the wire -1- and to battery positive ( + ).
• ‒ Connect wire -3- (brown) to earth ( - ).
  Test lamp must light.
• ‒ Start engine and slowly increase speed.
  At
• ‒ oil pressure switch 021 919 081 B/C or 056 919 081 C
  0.15...0.45 bar
• ‒ oil pressure switch 028 919 081 C
  0.30...0.60 bar

• the LED must go out or the oil pressure switch is to be renewed.

• ‒ Further incresase engine speed.
  At 2000 rpm and an oil temperature of 80° C the oil pressure should be at least 2.0 bar.

• At higher speed the oil pressure must not be in excess of 7.0 bar. If necessary, renew oil pump cover with pressure relief valve.

Note:

In the evet of complaint "Oil pressure warning lamp comes on at idling speed", the situation can be remedied by fitting the oil pressure switch with the designation - 021 919 081 B -.

With optical and acoustic oil pressure indicator

Note:

Functional check and servicing the optical and acoustic oil pressure indicator

=> "Current flow diagram, electrical fault finding and location" binder.

• ‒ → Remove 0.3 bar oil pressure switch (brow insulation) and screw it into the tester.
• ‒ Screw tester into cylinder head in place of oil pressure switch.
• ‒ Connect brown wire of tester to earth ( - ).

• ‒ Connect diode test lamp V.A.G 1527 to battery positive ( + ) and 0.3 bar oil pressure switch -A- with test leads from V.A.G 1594. LED must light.
• ‒ Start engine and slowly increase speed. At a level of 0.15...0.45 bar the LED must go out otherwise the 0.3 bar oil pressure switch is to be renewed.
• ‒ → Connect diode test lamp to 1.8 bar oil pressure switch (white insulation) -B-.
  At 1.6...2.0 bar the LED must light otherwise the oil pressure switch is to be renewed.
• ‒ Further increase speed. At 2000 rpm and an oil temperature of 80° C the oil pressure should be at least 2.0 bar.

• At higher speed the oil pressure must not be in excess of 7.0 bar. If necessary, renew oil pump cover with pressure relief valve.
