Crankshaft dimensions > < Dismantling and assembling cylinder block, crankshaft and flywheel
4 cyl. carburetor engine, mechanics (1.5, 1.6 and 1.8 litre engine)

Renewing crankshaft oil seal - pulley end
  • ‒ Remove toothed belt.
  • ‒ Remove toothed belt sprocket (use counterhold 3099 to loosen fastening screw).
  • ‒ Screw inner part of oil seal extractor 2085 two truns (approx. 3 mm) out of outer part an lock with knurled screw.

  • ‒ Remove Woodruff key from crankshaft.
  • ‒ To guide the oil seal extractor, screw fastening screw for toothed belt sprocket into crankshaft until it protrudes 20 mm.

  • ‒ → To guide the oil seal extractor, screw the cheesehead bolt from 3083 into the crankshaft as far as it will go.

  • ‒ → Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor 2085 with oil, place it in position and applying firm pressure screw it as far as possible into oil seal.
  • ‒ Loosen knurled screw and turn the inner part against the crankshaft until the oil seal is pulled out.
  • ‒ Clamp flats of extractor in a vice and remove oil seal with a pair of pliers.
  • ‒ Slightly oil sealing lip and outer edge of the oil seal.

  • ‒ → Place oil seal in position and press in 2 mm deep using the washer for the toothed belt sprocket.
  • ‒ Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) .

  • ‒ → Position guide sleeve from 3083 on crankshaft journal and slip seal over guide sleeve.
  • ‒ Press home seal with sleeve from 3083 and cheesehead bolt.
  • ‒ Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) => page 13-9 .
